Multimedia CD ROM or multimedia art direction is a whole new field where the objective is not creating a static page, a TV spot or a radio campaign: the objective is to create an experience, a user-controlled journey that the art director helps to make satisfying and worthwhile. Not only does the art director of interactive software have to master typography, image manipulation and layout but also animation, sound, video and interface design, each a field of its own.
